In the early days of WiFi and laptop couch crunching, small factions of anti-commuters in NYC created the notion of gathering together at either an apartment, or a coffee shop every Sunday in order to infuse their collaborative ideas and all work in a group, though working on different projects. Thus the Sunday Jelly was born. This was the Coworking 1.0 so to speak. And now the “Sunday Jelly” has evolved into something that is happening every day and in a larger environment. Next week is Worldwide Jelly Week 1012,a throwback to the idea that began Coworking. This is a global event and over 32 Countries will be taking part. Jellies will be popping up all over the world next week in order to expand the evolution of the coworking movement. It will be especially interesting here in Hawaii, where Rechung Fujihira and company at The Box Jelly @ Fishcake, will be opening their doors to everyone starting on Monday, January 16. The goal is to introduce everyone to the possibilities of the Coworking environment. ” We want to invite everybody to come down to The Box Jelly and get real feel for what it’s like to get work done in a Coworking environment. We have several events planned for next week. It’s the direction our society is heading into, unbound by needing to be in any certain place at any certain time.” – Rechung Fujihira Worldwide Jelly Week is something that may bring several new faces into the local coworking scene, and with that, a new dynamic. The entire purpose behind the coworking environment is to have many people from many different specialties in one place so that they may feed off of one another and improve and revamp their own ideas. It is the soil in which innovation plants grow. The Box Jelly introduced this Evolutionary movement to Hawaii, and it has caught on. ” During the daytime it will be open for everyone to come by and check it out, and we will also have events each night of the week.”-Rechung Fujihira “We have Bill Spencer of the Hawaii Venture Capitol Association on Monday night along with John Watkins, talking about entrepreneurship. Then Tuesday we have an Organic Clothing Company as well as Acoustic band…” And there is much more! But in order to see what else is on the schedule, you need to go down and visit The Box Jelly @ Fishcake and take part in Worldwide Jelly Week 2012.
